The Department of Practical Linguistics was established on the basis of the Language Training Center (previously established on the basis of the Departments of Practical Linguistics and the Department of Foreign Languages) in 2022 in accordance with the decision of the Board of Directors and the order of the Rector of A. Baitursynov KRU.
The main tasks of the department are: the implementation of language training in Kazakh, Russian and English for students of non-linguistic specialties of our University: the preparation of a competitive specialist with the skills and abilities of practical knowledge of everyday speech and the language of the specialty for the active use of languages, both in everyday life and in professional communication, able to carry out continuous self-education and improve their skills in the future thanks to the knowledge of languages, the development of students' skills of intercultural communicative competence.
Educational and methodological work of the Department of Practical Linguistics includes:
- development of working curricula on language disciplines: Kazakh language, Russian language, foreign language, professionally oriented foreign language; academic writing (Kazakh, Russian)
- implementation of educational and methodological support of the academic disciplines of the department: the development of textbooks, teaching aids, complex assignments, guidelines for the study of language disciplines, as well as materials for current, intermediate and final control of knowledge in all forms of education;
- the use of modern educational technologies and forms of education that increase the assimilation of educational material by students;
The teachers of the department regularly hold methodological seminars, webinars, open classes, conduct language courses in Kazakh, Russian, and foreign languages for those who wish to raise their level, and also prepare for Kaztest.
The educational work of the Department of Practical Linguistics includes:
- the formation of patriotism, citizenship, internationalism, high morality and morality among students;
- stimulating students to a healthy lifestyle, active participation in social events of the Center;
- conducting thematic events on the profile of the Center, contributing to the expansion of the horizons of students, the formation of a value attitude to the chosen specialty;
- conducting career guidance work among students of secondary educational organizations, vocational schools, vocational lyceums, colleges.
Teachers of the department organize educational activities for students of all non-linguistic specialties at the university and cathedral levels.
