The Department of Journalism and Communication Management of the A. Baitursynov Kostanay Regional University was established in 1996.
Today, it is a department with a strong faculty, providing training for journalists in accordance with the requirements of the modern labor market. Education is conducted within the following educational programs:
- Bachelor's degree: 6B03201 Journalism (4 years);
- Master's degree: 7M03201 Journalism - scientific-pedagogical and specialized directions;
- Doctoral studies: 8D03201 Journalism - scientific-pedagogical direction.
A distinctive feature of the department is the professional training of journalists, which includes both general theoretical disciplines and specialized ones aimed at mastering current, including digital, technologies of professional journalistic activities.
To ensure the competitiveness of journalism graduates, the department has implemented practice-oriented training, according to which some classes are held in the department's branches and practice bases.
Since 2021, the department has been implementing dual education, which involves concluding a tripartite agreement between A. Baitursynov KRU, an organization, and a student, stipulating that 60% of the knowledge is acquired within the university, and 40% in the media editorial office or press service. Thus, in 2021 - 7, in 2022 - 10 students, studying in 2-4 courses, were employed.
