Since 2002, the Department of Foreign Philology has been training specialists in the fields of Foreign Philology and Translation Studies across three levels of education: Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctoral programs.
The training in Foreign Philology and Translation Studies is practice-oriented. The educational process at the department is based on the principles of an individual approach to students and is aimed at achieving high academic results. Students hone their skills in English and a second foreign language (French or German – by choice) on a daily basis, and actively engage in educational and research activities. The department also runs a research section titled Applied Linguistics for both undergraduate and graduate students.
The main objectives of the department's educational programs are to provide conditions for:
- mastering English and a second foreign language at a professional level, with the possibility of confirming language competencies through international certificates;
- acquiring proficiency in academic foreign language, including skills in essay writing, scientific article composition, abstracting and interpreting texts, stylistic analysis, business correspondence, and oral and written communication in the business sphere;
- developing linguistic and cultural analysis skills for further studies at the Master's and Doctoral levels, as well as for lifelong independent learning.
